Arnold Clark will sponsor our Bank on Us Christmas campaign

Arnold Clark is proud to sponsor the Glasgow Times Charity Campaign Bank on Us, an award-winning festive campaign that aims to save Christmas for struggling families in Glasgow.

Although this time of year is considered a time of celebration, for many families it is a time of stress and worry as they struggle to balance rising costs with the financial pressure that comes with the Christmas time.

Many families have to choose between buying food and keeping the heat on, with gifts on Christmas Day being an unattainable luxury. No family should have to make such a devastating choice, and no child should be denied the joy of a merry Christmas; that’s why Arnold Clark is giving his full support to the fantastic Bank on Us campaign.

Bank on Us was launched to support families who need it most and to help make Christmas a magical time for everyone.

Each December 3 edition of The Glasgow Times will include a special paper bag which can be filled with the toy of your choice. Readers can then deposit it in their local toy bank, a list of which can be found on the Bank on Us webpage.

This simple act can have a huge impact on those in need, with last year’s Bank on Us campaign delivering over £15,000 worth of toys – around 100,000 gifts – to vulnerable children in Glasgow. This year they want to do even better, and with the support of Arnold Clark they will be able to spread their message further and focus on helping those in need.

Sponsoring Bank on Us is just one of the ways Arnold Clark shows his commitment to giving back to local communities. Arnold Clark is proud to sponsor other great causes such as the Kiltwalk Events which are managed in collaboration with the Hunter Foundation, of which Arnold Clark has been a proud sponsor since 2016.

The Kiltwalk fundraising platform is an opportunity for people to raise money for charities close to their hearts, while promoting a healthy lifestyle and spreading the good word about tartan fashion.

Kiltwalk events take place every year in cities across Scotland including Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, and each event raises a phenomenal amount of money for the walkers’ chosen charities, which is then backed up by the Hunter Foundation. For example, the Glasgow Kiltwalk alone raised a record £4million for Scottish charities – £2.7million raised by walkers and a further £1.35million provided by the Hunter Foundation .

Arnold Clark also launched his own Community fund in March 2021 to help mitigate the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, by providing significant financial support to local community groups that were at risk of disappearing during the lockdown. Charitable and community groups were able to apply for funding from the Arnold Clark Community Fund to help them support themselves when it was impossible for them to generate income.

The Arnold Clark Community Fund has been such a success, with over 20,000 applications for funding of up to £1,000 to date, that further Community Fund campaigns have been announced, including a ‘Winter Edition in 2021 which was specifically aimed at food banks, housing and housing and the fight against poverty to help those who need it most during the difficult winter months.

Another way Arnold Clark has given back to its local communities has been through the construction of its Innovation Centers.

The first Arnold Clark Innovation Center is located in the West End of Glasgow and is a purely educational space which highlights the benefits of alternative fuel vehicles. With no on-site sales, visitors can explore the latest automotive industry innovations in a relaxed and supportive environment and learn how going electric can fit into their lifestyle.

Following the success of the first Innovation Center, Arnold Clark opened a second in Stafford, giving the public greater access to AFV innovation. And this Christmas, the Innovation Centers are celebrating the holiday season with a special event open to everyone.

With fun games and activities for all ages, and even a very special Santa’s Grotto, we hope everyone can visit the Innovation Center Christmas Experience.

Please take part in the wonderful Bank on Us campaign, spread the work and help make Christmas the best day of the year for everyone.
