Carlsberg team up with CPL and set to sponsor York United – Northern Tribune

Carlsberg and the Canadian elite have a handshake.

The Canadian Premier League has just announced a multi-year partnership that sees Carlsberg named the league’s Official Beer and Non-Alcoholic Beer Partner. The deal, brokered by Canada Soccer Business, also sees Carlsberg named to the same role for Canada Soccer.

However, the cup isn’t drying up there: Carlsberg has also been named the front shirt sponsor of York United FC from 2023, with the drinks company also a key supporter for CPL Pride 2023 matches. .

We are delighted that Carlsberg believes in the vision we share for football in this country and are so proud to wear their name on our shirt. Carlsberg has such an illustrious association with football – I remember many campaigns around major tournaments and their names on legendary club shirts. We are delighted to be part of this tradition.

Angus McNab, President of the York United Club

York United graphic designer and video producer Robert Marchese – who helped design the club’s rebranding – has already described the club’s first away kit under sponsorship as potentially his favorite of the bunch.

The deal marks the first major corporate partnership of the Mark Noonan era, who notes the drinks company is seen as a strong supporter of the game internationally. The partnership will see Carlsberg promoted by the league coast to coast with alcoholic and non-alcoholic options on tap.

Carlsberg will also host parties for Canadian soccer fans to see the men’s and women’s national teams on the field. These watch parties also seem to work in conjunction with CPL club attendance.

“Carlsberg has a long association with soccer around the world and we are delighted to join Canada Soccer at this exciting time for the sport in this country, with the men’s and women’s national teams and the thriving Canadian Premier League.” , said Anders Rud Jorgensen, Managing Director of Carlsberg Canada Incorporated.

The CPL and Canada Soccer announced a renewed deal with Gatorade earlier this year, suggesting corporate sponsorships are now pouring in ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
