Dink For Cause organizes a PickleBall tournament at the Paseo Club and sponsors ten families

Dink For Cause, a local non-profit, is hosting a PickleBall tournament at the Paseo Club and plans to sponsor 10 local families.

On Saturday, November 12, Dink For Cause is hosting a pickleball tournament at Paseo Club located in Valencia, with proceeds going to sponsor ten local families for the holidays, said Monica Hicks, co-founder of Dink For Cause.

Dink For Cause is a nonprofit that was launched in February this year in honor of Hick’s late husband, Leo, who was diagnosed with AML, an aggressive form of leukemia.

“We were told that the only chance of survival would be through a stem cell or bone marrow transplant. Leo’s donor was found through the Be the Match registry. His perfect match came from a young man in Belgium, Hicks said. After receiving the transplant, Leo pledged to pay one day to the next. He would share his story and raise monetary and awareness funds for Be The Match. Leo fought like a warrior, but in October 2018, at the age of 52, Leo lost the battle,”

The organization raised more than $12,000 and enrolled more than 80 donors in the bone marrow registry.

“We continue to pay and welcome another charity pickleball tournament at the beautiful Paseo Club, we are sponsoring 10 local families who could use a little extra help this holiday season,” Hicks added.

The event is first come, first served and are supposed to admit up to 10 teams (20 people) in six categories (men and women 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0)
