Online food and grocery delivery platform, foodpanda has sponsored 5000 Euros for the Local Education and Economic Development Organization (LEEDO) team representing Bangladesh at the Street Child World Cup 2022 in Doha.
A Jersey handover ceremony was held at foodpanda headquarters recently, according to a press release.
The Street Child World Cup Doha 2022 started from October 8-15 and brought together underprivileged children from all over the world to participate in a football tournament, an arts festival and to defend their rights and protection through a congress and of a child-focused general meeting. This is the fourth Street Child Football World Cup, following successes in South Africa (2010), Brazil (2014) and Russia (2018). SCWC 2022 will give disadvantaged children around the world the chance to represent their country.
“From an early age, I myself loved sports. It brings people together, regardless of background, gender or social disparity. I personally loved meeting and interacting with girls, and I I was truly touched by how, despite all their challenges, these girls are so positive and full of life,” said Ambareen Reza, Managing Director and Co-founder of foodpanda Bangladesh Limited.
Team Captain Jesmin Akhter said: “We are proud to represent Bangladesh at SCWC 2022, in Doha. It is indeed very exciting to be part of an international event, and to wear the Bangladesh shirt. and stepping into a playing field empowers us, as if our nation is there to cheer us on.”
According to the press release, LEEDO has been operating as a voluntary non-profit organization since 2000. They aim to meet the needs of the growing number of vulnerable street children in Bangladesh by providing them with shelter, food and education.
