Chesterland Winter Festival

November 26, 5:30 p.m.

The Rotary Club of Geauga West and Chester Township Trustees sponsor the annual Chesterland Winterfest at the Chester Township Lookout in the park at the corner of Mayfield and Chillicothe Roads.

Join community members for the park lighting display for the holiday season. Enjoy complimentary hot chocolate, hot cider, popcorn, seasonal music, and a bonfire. It will be canceled in the event of heavy rain.

Bainbridge Holiday Lighting

November 26, 7 p.m.

Bainbridge Civic Club holds the Bainbridge Holiday Lighting Ceremony at the Heritage Park Gazebo, 17870 Chillicothe Road. The event includes Christmas carols with Kenston Varsity Jazz, a visit from Santa, hot chocolate and cookies, and activities for children. Bainbridge Historical Society will hold an open house at the Bissell-Tucek House from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The fire station will have an open house. Register to participate in the gingerbread house contest; visit www.TheCivicClub.org for a registration form.

Support the holiday food drive by bringing a bag of non-perishable food to the ceremony to benefit the Bainbridge Area Food for Friends pantry.

Items from the donating tree can be dropped off at Customer Service from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Audubon Monitors Mentor Marais

November 27, 8 a.m.

Join Blackbrook Audubon on their monthly Important Bird Area (IBA) walk at Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve. Meet at the entrance gate to the utility pipeline access road at the intersection of Woodridge Lane and Forest Road in Mentor Headlands. This will be a closed program with group birding.

Dorothy’s Porch Gift

Dec. 1 and 2, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dorothy’s Porch, a free community giveaway of family clothing, bedding, household items, Christmas items, books and toys, will be held at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road in Chardon.

Square Christmas illumination

December 1, 5-7 p.m.

The Chardon Square association will host the illumination of Chardon Square park and the arrival of Santa Claus on a horse-drawn sleigh at 7 p.m.

The Pilgrim Christian Church will serve a chili dinner from 5-7 p.m. The Chardon Region Chamber of Commerce will serve hot cider and cookies.

Chardon Square is located at the intersection of National Routes 44 and 6.

Entrepreneur Success Breakfast

Join Geauga Growth Partnership for its Entrepreneur Success Breakfast at Kent State University – Geauga, 14111 Claridon Troy Road, Burton. Ted and Beth Bunton of Troy Chemical Industries will share the story of how their companies were founded, empowered and grown in manufacturing specialty chemicals for various industries across the country.

Annual Christmas Sale

Dec. 2 and 3, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Middlefield United Methodist Church will hold its annual Christmas sale at the church located at 14999 South State Ave., Middlefield. Parking is available behind the church.

There is a large assortment of new and gently used clothing for adults and children, holiday foods, books for all ages, DVDs, toys, stuffed animals, tableware, knick-knacks, holidays, puzzles, coats, handbags and jewelry.

Breakfast with Santa Claus

Dec. 3, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Rotary Club of Geauga West is hosting its 30th annual All You Can Eat Pancake and Sausage Breakfast with Santa in the cafeteria at West Geauga Secondary School, 13401 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Tickets are $8 per person at the door. Children 1 year and under are free.

Take digital photos with Santa or bring a camera. The event includes Christmas music, face painting, games and special guests Rudolph and Santa Claus.

Profits support Rotary community projects and local activities.

Breakfast with the clauses

December 3

The annual Munson Township Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus is held at Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road.

Pancakes, sausages, juice and coffee will be served. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 4-12. Children under 3 years old are free.

Photos with Santa will be available on a jump drive for $10, with proceeds going to Boy Scout Troop 91.

Arbor Festival

Dec. 3, 4, 10 and 11, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Middlefield Historical Society will hold its Festival of Trees, an enchanted forest of beautifully trimmed trees, twinkling lights and festive holiday decor inside Middlefield’s historic 1818 Century Inn, 14979 South State Ave. Visitors can vote on the public choice.

Free entry; donations will be accepted. There will be sales of live poinsettias, flower arrangements and raffle tickets for several prizes.

The site is also a Merry Middlefield Grinch drop-off location – bring new unboxed toys during opening hours on December 3-4.

Visit the Depot for a free peppermint ice cream cone; limited flavors of other frozen treats will be available at half price.

star basketball league

Registration is now open for Stars Basketball, a basketball league for all skill levels from grades 1-6 held at Morning Star Church, 12550 Ravenna Road in Chardon. The evaluations will take place on December 5, 9 and 10. The season runs from January 16 to March 18.

GCRTA Holiday Brunch

December 6, 9:15 a.m.

The Geauga County Retired Teachers Association will meet for its holiday brunch at the St. Mary Banquet Center, 401 North St., Chardon. Following the business meeting, a traditional breakfast buffet will be served at 10:00 am followed by a “Toys of Old” program presented by member Kathy Doyle. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a free lunch raffle.

Reservations are required by November 26 by sending a $19 check payable to GCRTA to Judy Miller, 17130 Kinsman Road, Middlefield, OH 44062. Inform Judy of any dietary restrictions.

All retired school personnel can join the GCRTA. Consider bringing a newly retired person or guest to the meeting. Members are asked to bring paper products or canned goods for the Geauga Hunger Task Force.
