HAITI: Sponsorship Program Manager – Haiti

The Opportunity

The Sponsorship Manager is responsible for directing, managing and overseeing all aspects of sponsorship, ensuring that member policies and procedures are followed in terms of sponsorship operations, communications, programming and of budgeting. The incumbent is part of the Extended Senior Management Team (ESMT) which provides inputs and recommendations in support of effective country program management.

This position is responsible for managing an integrated child-friendly community development program in accordance with the Common Sponsorship Programs (CASP) approach. The CASP includes Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), Basic Education (BE), Health and NHS) and Adolescent Development (AD). In addition to strategic leadership, this position will also manage budget, staff and partners.

Strategic direction, program implementation

  • Provides strategic and operational leadership to program management
  • Develops a vision and ensures a clear understanding among all staff and partners of the desired key program objectives/outcomes for the 8-10 year presence in the sponsorship impact area
  • Works closely with the Sponsorship Technical Working Group (STWG) Technical Advisors (TAs) based around the world on the finalization of indicators and results reporting; ensure that project activities and partners align to achieve these results

Technical assistance and capacity building

  • Ensures appropriate training/capacity building for staff members, partner agencies and others in support of high quality programs
  • Provides other technical support, particularly in the areas of program development, research, monitoring and evaluation and/or ensures that adequate support is provided
  • Oversees the identification and selection of appropriate short- and long-term technical assistance to support program quality (e.g., building on technical assistance within the CO and STWG)

Human Resource Management

  • Continually assesses staffing patterns and ensures the right staff are in the right place on time
  • Build and nurture effective teamwork in the Impact Zone (IA) and ensure a cohesive work environment for optimal staff retention
  • Supervises the team and provides guidance as needed to ensure program objectives are met
  • Etc.

Reports and documentation

  • Ensures timely submission of all deliverables including Annual Sponsorship Plan (SAP), Detailed Implementation Plans and Annual Sponsorship Report
  • Ensure that all reports required by all stakeholders including global sponsorship, technical groups, sponsorship operations units, NGOs and others are produced on time and are of high quality

Monitoring, evaluation and research

  • Ensures that the project monitoring system is in place; organize internal and external evaluations
  • Ensure that the research and learning agenda is strategically integrated into programs and well managed
  • Identifies consultants, both national and international for this purpose
  • Monitors project expenditures against program activities and budget
  • Participate in all sponsorship-related budget planning and monitor sponsorship program expenses

Representation and networking

  • Works closely with Save the Children – Senior Management, Global Sponsorship, Government officials and local and international partners
  • Ensures strong communication and coordination with other Save the Children sponsorships, including STWG TAs, and with other initiatives in Haiti to maximize the use of resources to achieve multi-sector program integration and avoid redundancy
  • Ensures identification of advocacy issues relevant to sponsorship-funded programs, development of an advocacy and influencing plan (ensuring collaboration with advocacy efforts at CO level) and its proper implementation with the government as well as with other stakeholders

Information Management, System Capabilities and Record Keeping:

  • Ensure the management of personal data on children and sponsors in accordance with the organization’s privacy policies
  • Ensure sponsorship statistics are maintained and updated in a timely and correct manner
  • Ensure that an appropriate Child Benefit monitoring and control system is in place and maintained properly
  • Etc.

To pass, you will need to bring/have:

  • Master’s degree preferred in management, education, English or community development. The equivalent or a bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in management, education or community development is acceptable.
  • Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken.
  • Proven writing and digital skills and experience with basic financial information systems (e.g. Excel), budget tracking, and writing and editing reports and documents.
  • Proven people management and supervisory skills
  • Excellent analytical skills – the ability to analyze complex financial data and design and produce effective management information
  • Etc.

Desirable

  • A second language preferably in the local language
  • Knowledge of Save the Children key sectors
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of international humanitarian/development systems, institutions and donors.
