Home Office Premium Customer Service Guide for Student Sponsors

In October 2020, the Home Office launched a premium customer service for educational institutions sponsoring students on study visas to the UK.

The premium-service is designed to offer sponsors an increased level of support in sponsoring international students, and will provide institutions with personalized advice and support in managing their sponsorship license and student immigration needs.

Any Approved Sponsor with Student Sponsor status can apply to join the service provided they have no pending compliance actions. The service is similar to the premium customer service program that has been available for migrant worker sponsors for several years at a significantly higher cost.

How much does it cost

The service is available for £8,000 for a 12 month period and includes the cost of your next Basic Conformity Assessment (BCA), which student sponsors must apply for and pass every 12 months in order to retain their sponsor license.

Services included

Student Sponsors who successfully apply for Premium Customer Service will benefit from:

  • A named account manager and a regional account manager. You will receive a phone number and email address to contact your account manager between 9am and 5pm on weekdays. Your account manager will be your first point of contact for any inquiries related to your student sponsor license or migrant-related issues. Your regional account manager will be available to provide assistance with more complex queries and strategic issues.
  • The ability to speak directly with head office at annual premium customer service events and meetings with your account manager and senior team members.
  • Access to student immigration history details. With the student’s consent, the Home Office will provide you with information to help you decide whether they can apply for a student visa and whether you should issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). These requests will be executed within 3 working days.
  • Priority processing of requests to change your student sponsor license. Most requests will be fulfilled within 10 business days. Complex requests, such as mergers and takeovers, may take longer to process. If this happens, your account manager will be in contact with you throughout this period.
  • Monthly CAS award information reports are available upon request. These reports detail the CAS certificates you have used in the last 3 months. This will provide you with an indication of where your CAS results place you against the BCA criteria.

You cannot use the service to ask the Home Office to consider an application outside of immigration rules or to quickly consider migrant applications. However, the premium customer service team may provide updates on the progress of a request, with the requester’s permission.

Join the waiting list

Unfortunately, the Home Office is currently unable to accept new applications to subscribe to the service. However, you can request to be placed on the waiting list by sending an email to [email protected].

In your email, you must include:

  • the name of your establishment
  • sponsor license details
  • your contact details.

You can also request Premium Customer Service by using your Sponsorship Management System (SMS) account and selecting “Request or Renew Student Sponsor Premium Customer Service”.
