Inverclyde woman steps up to raise money for childhood cancer charity

A LOCAL woman has done her best to undertake a sponsored walk in aid of a children’s cancer charity.

Gillian Maxwell signed up for the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise money for Calum’s Cabin, an organization that provides holiday homes for children with cancer.

She previously took part in the Glasgow version to benefit the charity.

She said: “I wanted to raise awareness about Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and in particular the work that Calum’s Cabin does.”

Gillian prepared for the challenge by joining local walking groups.

She said: “I went out with Inverclyde Bothy and did both of their walks on a Wednesday.

“My friends and family have also helped me out and train.

“I got special shoelace charms with ‘Calum’s Cabin’ engraved on them, so I could look at my feet and remember why I was doing the walk.”

Those wishing to donate to Gillian’s fundraiser for Calum’s Cabin can always do so online at https://bit.ly/3RIxiTb
