Laois Community and Voluntary Award sponsors are delighted to support the awards

“We greatly appreciate the contribution of volunteers within sports clubs and community groups as they are essential in providing regular physical activity and sporting opportunities throughout the county and would like to thank all applicants for their outstanding contribution,” a- she declared.

Muireann Ní Chonaill is Head of Laois Arts and Coordinator of Creative Ireland, said Creative Ireland Laois – The Creative Communities program is delighted to sponsor this year’s Art, Culture and Heritage category.

“Our goal is to broaden access to and participation in cultural and creative activities in County Laois and the creation of vibrant, creative and sustainable places.

“We believe that art, culture and creativity are catalysts for collaboration and innovation to achieve community well-being, social cohesion and economic development,” she said.

Caitriona Ryan, is the manager of the Laois Volunteer Center who is also happy to be back to support the awards this time as a sponsor of the new Young Volunteer Award.

“This is our second time participating in the sponsorship of an award and we are proud to be able to bring some recognition and gratitude to our county youth volunteers,” she said.

Emma O’Connor is a coordinator with healthy laois which is also supporting this year’s event.

“Healthy Laois wants to recognize the key role that volunteers and groups play throughout County Laois and is thrilled to support and be part of the celebrations,” she said.

Business Support Unit of the General Council of Laois (BSU) sponsored one-time prizes for the evening itself. Denise Rainey, administrative officer at BSU, said her unit was very pleased to sponsor the community and volunteer awards.

“This is a very important event for individuals and groups who devote a large part of their time to improving the quality of life of others. Best wishes to all participants,” she said.

That of the Council Sports & Leisure section is also delighted to partner in the sponsorship of the Health & Wellness category.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the efforts local community groups are making to help improve the quality of life for county residents,” a statement read.

The awards were presented at the Midlands Park Hotel in Portlaoise on Friday 28th October.
