Over the years, the Madison American Legion Auxiliary, Unit No. 39, has supported community programs such as children and youth.

In recent years, the organization has sponsored a school supply collection box that included backpacks, pens, pencils, markers, notebooks, binders, pencils, crayons and water bottles. water. Thanks to the generosity of cash donations and school supplies from the community and members, Unit #39 was able to donate over $900 worth of school supplies and backpacks to seven schools in School Administrative District 59 (Madison) and Regional School Unit 74. (Anson), according to a press release from adjunct member Harriet Bryant.

Auxiliary members have dedicated more than a century to serving the needs of veterans, service members, and their families, in the United States and abroad. They volunteer millions of hours every year, worth nearly $2 billion.

As part of the world’s largest patriotic service organization, Auxiliary volunteers across the country also come together to honor veterans and service members through annual scholarships and Dirigo State programs, teaching juniors in high school to be leaders rooted in patriotism and Americanism.
