Solve the blind spot of technology
The Hidden Genius Project trains and mentors young black men in tech creation, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills to transform their lives and communities. Its founders saw a drastic gap between high unemployment among black professionals and career opportunities in the local tech sector, signaling a blind spot in the tech industry. Since then, the organization has equipped more than 8,500 young black men and young people of color with the skills, mentors and experiences they need to become successful entrepreneurs and technologists in a 21st century global economy. The Hidden Genius project recently won the Best in Business Youth Entrepreneurship 2021 award from Inc. for his work helping black boys and young men realize and unlock their true potential through IT, entrepreneurship and leadership.
“The Hidden Genius Project exists to empower and uplift young black men by providing them with opportunities to learn, innovate and lead, and the global stage Sponsor X provides illuminates their brilliance to enormous proportions,” said Brandon Nicholson, Ph.D., Founding Executive Director of The Hidden Genius Project. “The opportunity to collaborate with McLaren and Smartsheet is undoubtedly an incredible experience, and we hope this opportunity signals to young black people and young people of color around the world that we belong wherever our dreams can take us.”
