Melrose Announces New Official Platinum Sevens Tournament Communications Partner

SCOTLAND independent broadband provider GoFibre has announced a new three-year sponsorship of the Melrose Sevens.

The Borders-founded company has become an official platinum communications partner for the event, which kicks off on Friday, April 7, 2023.

The Melrose Sevens will kick off a new pre-qualifying tournament on Friday 7th April 2023 involving 16 grassroots clubs from the Borders and North of England.

The final will take place at the famous Greenyards main ground on Saturday evening, with the winners claiming a place in the 2024 tournament as well as a £1,000 prize, courtesy of GoFibre.

The local broadband provider will also sponsor the event’s family zone throughout the four-day weekend and offer its transformative full fiber technology to Melrose Rugby Club.

The full fiber optic upgrade to the clubhouse facilities will improve the club’s ability to host events and help ensure its sustainability for the next generation of Melrose rugby.

The sponsorship comes as GoFibre continues to roll out its comprehensive fiber optic network across Scotland, improving facilities and capabilities for local clubs, homes and businesses in the region. In the coming months, all-fiber broadband will be available to 1,400 homes and businesses in Melrose.

GoFibre aims to bring future-proof digital connectivity to local communities across Scotland and the North of England, tackling the current digital divide, particularly in rural and harder to reach communities.

Once in place, speeds of up to 10Gbps will be available, transforming the ability of local residents and businesses to work efficiently from home, use multiple devices simultaneously without lag, and download full box sets in seconds.

Tickets for the 2023 Melrose Sevens will be priced at £35 for adults and £15 for under-18s, with children under 5 free, with all tickets including access to Friday rugby, which falls on the holiday of Good Friday. Tickets will be available from mid-October.
