The Men’s International CiCLE Classic to be held on April 23 next year has a new sponsor for the next three years

Sigma Sports have announced that they are the new joint title sponsor of the Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic for the next three years. Following management changes to the ownership of the former joint title sponsor of the Rutland-Melton International CiCLE Classic, it is announced today that Sigma Sports will join forces with Schwalbe UK as joint title sponsor of the event for the next three years.
Speaking this week, CiCLE Classics Race Director Colin Clews said: “We are delighted that Sigma Sports have come forward to support the Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic as a new joint title sponsor with Schwalbe UK who have originally started supporting us in 2013 and has remained with us ever since in one of the longest continuous sponsorships in recent history of British cycling sport.
“During this period their support has been invaluable and with the new partnership with Sigma Sports, who have a fabulous store in our home town of Oakham, the national and international reputation of the race can only improve further. . This is especially appreciated during these difficult economic times that all sectors of the community are currently experiencing.
With Schwalbe UK already committed to racing again, planning for the 17th edition of the Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic to be held on April 23, 2023 is already advanced. Sigma Sports CEO James McEuen said, “We are delighted to become co-title sponsors of the CiCLE Classic. It’s a fabulous and important race for the cycling community around our Oakham store. It’s a big step for us and we’re delighted to have it out in front of our shop before the race starts”
The Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic continues to hold a unique position and character within the sport of British cycling and unrivaled popularity among competitors, fans and spectators. As the only international one-day race in the UK, offering British road cyclists the opportunity to compete against overseas competitors on their home roads. Previous editions of the race have been contested by names such as Mark Cavendish, three-time world champion Peter Sagan, Alex Dowsett, 2022 Tour de France stage winners Tom Pidcock and Mads Pederson, as well as three-time world of road racing Peter Sagan.
As part of an annual program of races for all categories, the CiCLE Classics also promotes a women’s and men’s junior edition which will take place in 2023 on Sunday 26 March. These additional races, which were themselves subject to sponsorship issues earlier this year, since resolved as recently announced, are unaffected by the above.
