Principal Charity Classic sets record for charitable donations in 2022

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Principal Charity Classic announced today that its 2022 tournament has raised more than $8.2 million for children’s charities in Iowa, surpassing the previous record of 7, $3 million established in 2021. The annual PGA TOUR Champions event in Des Moines has now raised more than $45.6 million for children’s charities in Iowa since Principal Financial Group became the sponsor in title in 2007.

This year’s tournament provided another dramatic ending, with Jerry Kelly defeating Kirk Triplett in a sudden-death playoff on the 18th hole. The win was Kelly’s second win of the 2022 PGA Tour Champions season.
