RVBH to Sponsor Awareness Training for Children at Risk of Drugs – The Owensboro Times

The RiverValley Behavioral Health Regional Prevention Center sponsors free Child Drug Danger Awareness (DEC) training. The training is for people who take an active role in preventing child abuse, with the aim of breaking cycles of substance abuse, reducing trauma and promoting the health and well-being of the community at large. .

Several training sessions will be offered. Sessions in Owensboro will be held at Kentucky Wesleyan College’s Jack T. Wells Activity Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. or 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on September 7.

“The training, presented by the National Alliance for Children at Drug Risk, is an opportunity for various disciplines and sectors within the community to increase their knowledge and understanding of the risks faced by children at drug risk. , and the need for multidisciplinary and collaborative responses to better meet the unique needs of these children,” according to an RVBH statement.

The training focuses on roles such as first responders, educators, probation and parole officers, care providers and community members.

“DEC awareness training will help our communities learn the importance of having a multidisciplinary response so that we can combine our resources and expertise to better serve children in our communities,” said Brooke Arnold, Director of the Regional Center for RGBH prevention. “Rather than working in silos, having a truly collaborative approach will provide better care for children at drug risk.”
