Sponsor Elks Poster, Essay and Video Contest

Eureka Lodge No. 652 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BOPE) is accepting entries for the annual Elks Drug Awareness Program poster, essay and video contests.

The theme for the 2022-2023 competition is “A pill can kill”.

Cash prizes of $100 will be awarded to the winners in each division at the local and district levels. The California and Hawaii Elks Association will award cash prizes of $400 for first place, $300 for second place and $200 for third place to the winners of each contest.

Competitions are open to all Humboldt County students as follows:

• Poster (Grades 3-5): Posters must be submitted on 8½ x 11 inch paper.

• Essay (Grades 6-8): Essays should not exceed 250 words and should be submitted on 8 ½ x 11 inch paper. Entries may be typed, computer-generated text, handwritten, or printed by hand.

• Video (pre-high school, high school, and post-graduation): Entrants can be an individual or a group, and the length of the video should be two to five minutes, submitted on a USB drive or similar mobile device in a readable format.
