PHOENIX–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Phoenix University is a Medal of Honor sponsor and supporter of the annual Veterans Day Parade, run and presented by the non-profit organization Honoring Americans’ Veterans, and held Friday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m. MST in Phoenix, Arizona. The annual parade honors the service and sacrifices of American military veterans and their families; the theme for this year’s parade is “Freedom, Honor and Sacrifice”.
“The University of Phoenix is proud to support military veterans and to be a part of our community today by honoring their service and sacrifices,” said Eric Ryan, senior director of the Office of Military Affairs and Veterans Affairs and Veteran of the Marine Corps. “We are fortunate to have veterans among our staff and faculty members as well as a very engaged employee resource group. We appreciate making this event meaningful for veterans and honoring our own student veterans.
The University of Phoenix Office of Military and Veterans Affairs and Veterans’ Employee Resource Group (ERG) promote the event to staff, students, and faculty and provide volunteer support. The University of Phoenix parade entrance features a large ball and a team of veteran employees, family and friends.
This year’s event features more than 80 parade entries with 15 marching units, 2,500 marchers and 10 floats. Event planners anticipate over 45,000 spectators.
The University of Phoenix serves the educational purposes of veterans and military students, with specially trained staff to assist service members, veterans, and military spouses and dependents. In addition to providing a career-relevant education for military students and flexibility to accommodate the schedules of military students and working adults, veteran students and military students may be assessed for college credit for military experience and training.
The University of Phoenix collaborates with American Corporate Partners (ACP) to help ease the transition from military service to the civilian workforce by facilitating access to the ACP Mentorship Program for post-9/11 service members and veteran students at the University.
