Family Fun Night: STEAMing all year round

Children ages 3-7 and their families are invited to join us on Tuesday, October 11 at 6 p.m. to “Investigate the Fall Harvest”. We will read the “Hello, Fall!” by Deborah Diesen and “Harvest” by Kris Waldherr, then participants will explore the inside of an apple, pumpkin and squash using magnifying glasses and create a harvest collage. Registration is mandatory and begins on October 4. This program is sponsored by the Friends of Leominster Public Library, in conjunction with Project Apples, the CFCE of Leominster.

Culinary Explorers Cooking Class

Kids ages 8-12 are invited to join Food Explorers on Wednesday, October 12 from 5-6:30 p.m. for an evening of cooking! Participants will create two delicious recipes: three-cheese pizza bites (croissant dough filled with ricotta and herbs) and apple pie cuts (graham cracker layers, diced apples with cinnamon and cream homemade whipped cream). Each recipe is nut-free but will contain dairy. Registration is mandatory and begins on October 5. This program is sponsored by family and friends in memory of Marylou Montuori.

LEGO Friends Library

Join Dr. Martin T. Feldman’s Children’s Room on Saturday, October 15 at 3 p.m. for a fun afternoon building LEGOs with friends! This program is suitable for 6-12 year olds. Registration is mandatory and begins on October 8.

Honey Horse Stuffed Animal Storytime

Children ages 3-7 are invited to join us for a story hour with stuffed animals on Monday, October 17 at 10 a.m. Registration is mandatory and begins on October 11.

Tween Makerspace: cardboard creations

Tweens ages 9-12 are invited to come to the tween area of ​​Dr. Martin T. Feldman’s Children’s Room on Monday, October 17 at 7 p.m. to explore and build with one of our new Makerspace kits: Architecture Rocketship. Using cardboard and connectors, create a rocket, a house, an animal, wherever your imagination takes you! Registration is mandatory and begins October 10. Please note that participation in this program is limited to tweens ages 9-12. Thanks !

How to safely interact with animals

Families and children ages 5-12 are invited to join us on Tuesday, October 18 at 6 p.m. to learn how to interact safely with animals with Michelle Kreell and her Bay Path Humane Society dog ​​Lane! Attendees will have the chance to meet and greet Lane after the program or, if you prefer, pet Marley, Michelle’s stuffed dog. No registration is required.

Early Release Day Self-Serve Games and Puzzles

Children ages 3 to 12 and their families can spend time in the Dr. Martin T. Feldman Children’s Room enjoying games and puzzles from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 19. It’s an early release day for the public at Leominster Schools, making it the perfect time to check out our new collection of games and our fun selection of puzzles. Puzzles range from 24 to 100 pieces. This is a homestay program with no registration required. Please note that children under 10 must be accompanied by a parent throughout their visit to the library.

Shine

Children ages 8-13 are invited to join us on Wednesday, October 19 at 6 p.m. for Shine Bright! Participants will paint a ceramic biscuit votive star as they wish. They’ll take home their painted piece complete with a faux tealight. Makes a perfect decoration for your room, to use as a night light or to give as a gift. Registration is mandatory and begins on October 12.

Watercolor painting: crystals and gemstones

Tweens ages 9-12 are invited to join us Saturday, October 22 from 2-3:30 p.m. for a watercolor class with art teacher Suzanne Hauerstein. Inspired by natural gemstones such as agates, crystals and geodes, students will learn watercolor techniques to create multi-colored multi-layered paintings. Students will experiment with watercolor painting techniques such as wet-on-wet, wax resist, using salt, and learn how to use washable markers as paint to continue being creative at home. Students must dress up to get dirty and have fun! Registration is mandatory and begins on October 15.
