Wentworth Angels to host latest Adopt-a-Child initiative before closing | Chatsworth Rising Sun

Wentworth Angels, a non-profit organization founded by Tracey Williams, will close after 14 years of providing much needed services to the Wentworth and Merebank communities.

The organization has provided a variety of services, including helping poor families, single parent families, victims of gender-based violence, crime-related issues, drug rehabilitation, and providing shelter for abandoned children and abused and the elderly.

The organization plans to close out on a high note by hosting its highly anticipated Adopt-a-Child initiative. This initiative takes place every year in the community where sponsors choose a child from an underprivileged household and buy him clothes, shoes and toiletries.

Children receive their gifts at a fun party held on December 16. Seniors are not left out as they also receive grocery baskets the same day.

“Christmas preparations for the Wentworth Angels begin early this year as I will be resigning for personal reasons. We are looking for sponsors and donations to make our final event a memorable one,” Williams said hopefully.

The community leader has many projects close to her heart because her passion is driven by having a positive impact in the lives of the people she meets along her journey.

From the age of nine, his parents instilled in him the vision of helping others. Her late parents, Arthur and Barbara Williams, left a legacy that their daughter continued.

“I have spent many happy years serving many communities, but the time has come for me to focus on myself and my family. I lived for the community and it’s time for me to do something for myself and my children,” said Williams, who credits her parents for instilling good values in her life.

As a survivor of gender-based violence, Williams turned a negative situation in her life into something positive by uplifting single mothers and young people through her experience.

“I always say thank you to God for the lessons because I didn’t allow them to break me. I built myself and became a motivational speaker, addiction educator, and caregiver for the elderly. Serving in the community has had its ups and downs and hasn’t always been easy, but I strive to help where I can,” she added.
