Young Lexington Performers Present Their Holiday Musical

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Lexington Children’s Theater talent shines brighter than Rudolph’s nose as they give audiences a taste of their holiday musical.

On the top floor of Joseph Beth bookstore, crowds surrounded the youngsters for a brief presentation of their upcoming musical adaptation of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Jr.

The adaptation includes Rudolph, the group of misfit toys, Hermey the elf, the abominable snow monster, and more, overcoming their challenges through shared experiences. Winter favorites were performed by the best young performers in children’s theater.

One of the most notable youngsters is Katelyn Windhorn. “I’m one of the reindeer and I was in the jingle jingle jingle, walking around the Christmas tree and Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.” said Windhorn.

The 10-year-old has been singing, dancing and acting since she was 6, but says she is new to acting.

“This is my first play with the Lexington Children’s Theater, but I’ve done other plays with other companies,” Windhorn said.

She and the Holiday Showcase are supported by the parents, siblings and grandparents of veteran artists. Her parents say she has always been a natural artist.

With her special connection to the holidays, Winthorn’s parents say she was gifted to them on Christmas Eve as their first child. Mum, Jennifer Windhorn, says the hospital brought her to the family in a Christmas stocking, which the family still uses for Katelyn every year.

Rudolph’s adaptation of the theater is sponsored by Family Home Builders, ball houses.

Lexington Opera House will present the shows from November 25 to 27.
