Sponsor a child

MORGANTON, North Carolina, October 4, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Seventeen-year-old professional runner, lead gray just handed over a check for $4,000 to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation on behalf of its sponsor, ReadyWise. “Giving them that money is so rewarding,” Leadbetter said. “It’s a great feeling to know that through my career as a professional driver, I can help children who are battling cancer.”

17-year-old professional driver Gray Leadbetter has pledged to donate 10% of all sponsorship dollars to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

The NPCF is dedicated to funding research to help eliminate childhood cancer. Its goal is to help find less toxic and more effective treatments. The NPCF also formed the Sunshine Project, an innovative collaboration designed to bring together the nation’s top doctors and researchers to find a faster cure for childhood cancer. Charity Navigator gave NPCF a perfect 4-star rating for financial health and transparency for 10e consecutive year.

After hearing about the NPCF and its mission, Leadbetter knew she wanted to help. Initially, the idea was to raise awareness of the NPCF by displaying its logo on its race car and appearing at NPCF events. But she wanted to do more.

Leadbetter and his father, Steve, came up with an idea rarely seen in the racing world. They decided that Leadbetter would donate a percentage of his race team’s precious sponsorship dollars to the NPCF. It’s an unusual move because racing is an extremely expensive sport in which sponsorship dollars can mean the difference between success or failure. Many drivers choose to donate only part of their earnings, which is usually much less.

“Giving that money to the NPCF tells you what kind of person lead gray is,โ€ said the CEO of ReadyWise, Morten Steen-Jorgensen. “Gray’s desire to give back and help others aligns perfectly with the values โ€‹โ€‹of the ReadyWise brand.” ReadyWise produces freeze-dried meals that are popular with outdoor enthusiasts such as campers, hunters and hikers. With a shelf life of up to 25 years, ReadyWise meals are the perfect choice for emergency food stores. It also produces the Simple Kitchen line of all-you-can-eat dried nutritious snacks.
